We had just left the Arch and this was a short walk. Usually places connected to hotels aren't that great, but this place didn't disappoint. We ordered the half-sized nachos with beef and they were great. I had the barbecue chicken wrap that was yummy and huge! The kids had a quesadilla and wings. They loved it. No kids menu, but the waitress offered smaller portions of menu items. The atmosphere was neat with the barrel wall and funky chairs.

I had fish tacos which were very good. I had a local beer the place was clean very quick with the food and the waitress was awesome

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. From out of town and stopped in because it was attached to hotel. Was impressed by service and quality of food. There were tons of televisions to be able to watch sports!!! I ordered the half order of nachos because I was by myself and it was big enough to feed a party of 4. I also ordered the wings and was impressed by the quality and taste of their firecracker sauce. Service was great and food was of great quality. As far as wait time, I walked right in and sat down which is pretty good for a Saturday night. I observed other parties doing the same thing. My only knock and it does not affect the overall score is that they had an app to listen to the audio of the games and it was very difficult to get to because their help "stands" were out of date and advertised the wrong version of the app. Other than that my experience here was fantastic.

My husband and I went in to grab dinner and watch the game on a Friday night. Got a table right away, good views of televisions. The service was better than two stars- (aside from the hostess who was a bit rude) our waitress was helpful, nice, and attentive. However, the food prevents this rating from being any higher. Ugh. Appetizer: 2 alarm buffalo wings- I will say, the sauce was very tasty, but it could not make up for the fact that the wings were not cooked properly- skin was slimy and rubbery. Entree: half order of chicken nachos- portion was huge, but they were so bland and tasteless. St. Louis ribs- understandably not the ideal place for ribs, and that pretty much sums those up- not inedible, but not what you're looking for in bbq ribs. The side of baked beans were very good. Corn muffin looked good too, until I discovered it was so stale and hard my finger couldn't even poke through it- and it tasted even worse than its texture. I actually ate a few more not-so-good nachos just to get the taste of out my mouth. Maybe a good place to stop in for some beers at the bar to watch a game, but not to eat.

Loud. The toasted ravioli was good for culinary mistake. Oh, very loud. The music was thumping like a rabbit on crack. Hard to hear without shouting. Lots of great local beer selections. Worth a visit for the alone. If you want loud music, attractive 30 something's and regional favs and a great u-shaped bar, this place may be for you. Oh, and they do tapas 'til midnight.

The turkey sandwich was always a treat. Not so much any more. It was dry and needed the cranberry chutney to cut the strong smoke flavor. Service was great and staff are the best.

Typical bar food but done well. The beer that had on tap was great! Local micro bed and the staff knew their stuff. I well go back next time I'm in town.

Great place. You feel welcome when you walk in and the service is spot on. Theirs plenty of flat screens on the wall for all the games. The St Louis IPA is great.

As it was a block or two from my own hotel, I strolled across the street to watch "The Game" (insert sport of the moment here). I found a seat at the bar and was greeted by a female bartender who was friendly and chose a good local beer for me to wet my whistle with, even though the joint was jumping with conventioneers decked out in their requisite conference badges. Looking good fellow nerds. So far, so good. Or so I thought. The TV in front of me was warped in the middle, making me feel drunk even though I was only a few sips in. Not a deal breaker, but not ideal. It soon became apparent that I had arrived at the worst possible time. Not because it was busy and customers were overrunning the staff - that can be sympathized with if not understood. No. It was the dreaded Shift Change - that time in the customer experience when one server (or in this case, bartender) wants you to pay up and tip and the other is miffed because you're taking up valuable sales real estate in their section (in this case, bar stool). Fair enough. I'd be cheesed off, too. Still, we all have our cross to bear and so to the tall, bearded and entitled barkeep who clearly left his personality (along with his manners) at home, I say, "Suck it up Buttercup." Buttercup will stop at nothing to avoid giving me the time of day; hustling through his setup routine oblivious (or is he apathetic?) to the twenty dollar bill lying in wait of change. (It was one beer and no, I'm not leaving you a $13 tip for slapping the bill down unceremoniously without so much as a grunt). Long story slightly shorter; I was going to eat and stay for as many beers as it took to watch The Game, but Buttercup's attitude began to stink up the joint and so, fair fellow traveler, I had to leave the Brewhouse to breathe in that fresh St Louis evening air at a more welcoming bartop. 4 stars for the 1st bartender, 0 for Buttercup = 2 weak stars.

We had an awesome good time here myself and my family the drinks were good and strong and the food those nachos were huge....

They have happy hour pricing two hours before and two after if you bring your ticket. The half order of nachos is huge. They have a rotation of micro brews that rotate. They have a nice selection of local micros. The smoked meat platter is fun choice. If you split it helps with cost of $25 is a bit high but everything here is. Friendly staff. Wifi didn't work.

Came here several times during my trip because of the convenience. Ordered the same thing both times: St. Louis Rib Special + an assortment of beer. The ribs were yummy but you can tell there were better offerings around the city (see: Pappy's). Coleslaw was flat, beans were fabulous as was the cornbread. I suppose the worst part about the dish all-in-all was the tremendous amount of smoky flavor, just far too much! What saves this place is the fabulous hostess, Grace, and the wait staff. Nice group of kids! It's 3* because of their beer. They ONLY serve local beer with a range of offerings on tap. I had a lot of them but really enjoyed the Ferguson Red and the Big Bison Stout.

When we travel, as a rule we don't eat anywhere that we have back home - we try to go to local eateries because we always try something new and almost always have a great experience. We ate here because it was raining and we didn't want to take the kids out in the storm. We all enjoyed the queso. The kids enjoyed the chicken tenders but one was a bit upset that the barbecue sauce was too spicy - I didn't think it was spicy but maybe for a kid. My husband commented that the beer batter on his fish (he got the fish and chips) may have been the best he'd ever had and that the Big Bison Ale was likely one of the best he'd ever tasted. I ordered the barbecue ribs (I read that in St. Louis, there is more barbecue consumed than anywhere else so figured it had to be good) and they were good but a bit tough. I don't normally eat ribs so I'm not sure if that's how they should have been. But overall they had a good smoky flavor, the sauce was good and the portion was huge. Also - I subbed fries for the cole slaw and they were AWESOME. It wound up being a bit pricier than we had hoped (for beer battered fish and chicken) but the food and service were great and it had such a convenient location that we were okay with the price!

So... local beers (2 stars!) a plus... but that's really where it ends. The servers were nice enough, but the food fell flat in a big way. If you are going to have a limited menu in a place like this, every item needs to be a home run. I have a feeling everything was as bland as my mushroom burger and fries. A sub-par greasy spoon with beer located in a hotel lobby. A giant MEH.

I ate here by myself when the conference I was with was serving salmon (not my thing) as the only choice for the dinner. I appreciated that the host noticed I had a book and brought me to a more secluded area near a light so I could read better- that was thoughtful. I really like my server Casey. She was friendly but not too friendly and read me really well. I got the pretzel appetizer which came with three mustards- regular yellow, dijon and grainy. It was pretty good- I tend to love pretzel appetizers at places like this but didn't love this one as much as others. It was darker than usual and none of the mustards wowed me- maybe a beer mustard mix would have been better? I also got the apple cobbler. It was HUGE. (I posted a pic- check it out). It was different than I expected and described on the menu. It was almost impossible to eat- there was a humongous scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and under that was a ton of warm cinnamon-y apples. I didn't see any almonds or cobbler or streusel or anything like that. It was a little confusing, and again, hard to eat and very messy (I asked for a bowl so I could move the ice cream off the top to get to the apples). I took the apple part home and it's in my hotel fridge- I'm going to have it for dessert tonight- I bet they are good cold too. I don't think I'd order it again but I bet it's a popular dessert to spare. I didn't try any of the beers but it seems like a cool menu of local craft beers. It was kind of interesting hearing the bartenders and male servers joke around- not sure how professional it was but it was interesting to observe from afar. Overall I didn't love my food but thought that Casey and the host were really excellent. It seems like a popular hang out place and I could tell there were some regulars.

We decided to stop here after the cardinals game and let traffic die out. I think it's a nice hidden spot a lot of people don't know about. In reality, it feels like it's the lounge for the Hyatt (and it probably is), but they have about 20 local drafts to choose from. They have a happy hour for people who went to the baseball game. It's 1/2 off several appetizers and one of their draft beers. The toasted ravs are what they are in most bars - frozen. The chicken wings were very small, but the dry garlic rub was tasty. The quesadillas are shaped like a taco but very good - lots of chicken in them. The happy hour is hard to beat but don't expect a whole lot. I'd like to come back again for dinner. The pictures here look good. I'd like to see this company do well.

Very loud and playing techno pop crap. We tried to go to the lobby bar, but it was closed. If you are a wine drinker, go elsewhere. One choice for white and it sucked. I can't imagine e what the red was like. Sadly the male bartender had NO personality... Nor could he make a drink or remember what you were drinking. He did manage to find the time to sit on the edge of the bar and chat with the local galz....

Pretty cool spot. Good beer. Good BBQ. I had the brisket twice here. First time was for lunch and it was damn good. Second time for dinner and was a bit dry that time but still acceptable. Sat at the bar and bartenders are very nice and provide excellent service. I'll be back.

The Ale and Onion soup is delicious. Mark is a fantastic server. Great atmosphere, good with kids, delicious food. Yummy Queso. Good bison burger. Really no complaints!!

Our waitress was very friendly! The beer was great. I had a BBQ chicken salad which had a lot going on - croutons, fried onions, a lot of chicken... I actual love lettuce and would have enjoyed more in the salad. But overall a great experience - thanks!

A nice pub attached to the downtown Hyatt featuring a large selection of locally brewed beers. I tried a chestnut beer that was lovely. St Louis, home of Anheuser-Busch, definitely has pride in their beers. I was impressed with the selection. To accompany your beer choices, you must try the fun specialty of St Louis: deep fried beef ravioli dipped in marinara sauce. I would recommend looking up their website for the diverse beer selection as it could be daunting when you arrive.

I visited this place five times while I was in St. Louis, but only because it was negative hundred degrees outside and attached to the hotel. (I'm from Georgia, anything under 30 degrees might as well be the Arctic circle.) That being said, I also really like this place. I mean it is just a bar - dark lighting, sports games on TVs, hardwood floors. I came during a conference where about 1000 other people had the same idea I had and visited every night past 9pm, so that being considered... the subpar service might actually be spectacular given any other night. Most nights I went, the servers were very friendly and amiable, but on two occasions we ended up with a server that seemed very unhappy about her situation. She never smiled, seemed frustrated and annoyed, and stalked off quickly. It's interesting how one bad experience can overshadow a million good ones because that one server would have brought the rating down to three stars if it wasn't for the beer. This place has a huge selection of local brews for pretty reasonable prices. (Except there is one beer on the menu that is 27 bucks for like, 16oz. Is it like the blood of Zeus or something? How can one beer be worth that much!?!?) The back section of the drink menu has a great draft list for a standard six dollar fare. I tried nearly all of them and wasn't disappointed. The beer came out relatively quickly in most cases, and was served at a great temperature. I wouldn't say this is a must-go-to place at all, and like I said, the whole conference thing probably affected it, but overall this is not a bad place to eat and drink.

Talk about quick, friendly service with delicious food! We stopped in here for a quick lunch before heading the airport for our flight home. They have an amazing selection of local brews and the waitress was great. We both ordered the build your own burger and it was perfectly prepared and served with a huge portion of fries. I liked all the options for toppings and we thought the food was a great value for the price. We will definitely come back.

Hmm lots of so-so reviews.. I was staying at Hyatt for a week and after day 1 I was here all week! The food was great (especially the brisket) and great local brews.. The bartender was fantastic his name was snapper.. He knew his brews and everyone he recommended was awesome.. If your near by its worth checking out!

I chose this place because it was right near the Hilton, and the bar in the Hilton closed early. It's not like most hotel bars because it has good food and good service. We had nachos and toasted ravioli. Both were great. Nachos were a great deal (a lot larger than I thought they'd be for the price). The bar was decently busy and the food came out amazingly fast. They have a good local beer selection which is awesome since I love trying new beers. I'm blanking on our server's name, but she was awesome and the other servers appeared to be too. Not sure when I'll be in St Louis again, but I'll come back here for a meal before going out again.

Read most of the other reviews, so thought I'd give it a shot. I used to work @ a major hotel and try to avoid hotel restaurants for the most part, but since the rest of my crew was going down for a drink, thought I'd give it a shot. (And, been around the world for my job, so I get good food/service/atmosphere). As mentioned in other posts, I was a bit turned off when we walked into the place with the foosball table and other games in the entrance foyer. Went in on a Sunday evening about 7pm, and the place wasn't that packed (even though the baseball game had finished a while ago). I would guess the place could accommodate about 20 four-tops and another 25 @ the bar at the most. The seating was "seat yourself" seating when we went in (again, a Sunday night; not too crowded). Suzana was our server. She came up with a smile and great attitude. BTW, Kelly is no longer there for those who have read the other posts. Suzana was familiar with the beer selection. We chose the Charleville Half Wit Wheat which was similar to a Blue Moon. Ok selection. I read so much about the Ale & Onion soup and gave it a shot. Not the BEST onion soup I've had, but very decent; maybe a 6 out of 10 on my scale. A little too much salty from my experience, but could have been the cheese they used. The sweetness of the onions used was perfect. Maybe next time, I'll get half cheese. But, overall, not bad. The service from Suzana was very good at her job. She was attentive, and replenished our drinks promptly. She chatted with us, smiled alot, and for the most part great service; 8 out of 10. Plus, she's a cutie from Albania, which we couldn't guess. For the most part, I'd still go back if/when I'm in town. The turn-off part was the bartender making more noise and talking louder than the patrons @ the bar. Not appropriate or cool @ all.

The Brewhouse Historical Sports Bar is not a cheap night out. All appetizers and sandwiches are right at ten dollars or more, and the beer starts at five dollars. Considering where its located, there's no surprise. Just down the street from the ballpark, eating there might be cheaper than Busch but might not be worth the price difference. We started off with a few drinks, a Bud Light and an Urban Chestnut Winged Nut Ale. Most of the taps at Brewhouse are local, that's a nice touch. We ordered the chicken wings, which have three tiers of heat. We chose the second hottest, a very peppery, solid effort. Each of us ordered a sandwich, a smoked brisket and double burger. Neither of us was entirely impressed with the sammies, but the fries were tasty! The best part of the experience was our server, Kelly. My wife proclaimed her the "best server I've had my entire time in St. Louis." She was incredibly patient while my wife chose a beer. She knew how to play the service game, and she was rewarded! Big props to her! I'm not sure if we'll ever hit up Brewhouse any time soon, but why not come in for a pint before a Cards game or when just hanging downtown?

Very good location to Busch Stadium and Downtown St.Louis. Great customer service and friendly waitresses! Great post game spot for after Cardinal Games. I'll definitely be back again when I visit St. Louis!!!!

I normally avoid restaurants in hotels unless it is one owned by a celebrity chef. I should have stuck to my guns with this one and avoided it, too. The food was mediocre at best. I'm not sure why other reviewers raved about the nachos. There was a pile of chips sitting in a puddle of flavorless cheese sauce, with a few jalapeños, some sour cream, and a few shreds of unmelted cheddar on top. The cheese sauce was disgusting. I ordered chicken strips because the waitress said they were good. That depends on if you like grease oozing out of your strips. If so, get these. The breaking was good, but so, so greasy, especially the longer they sat. My friend's burger and fries were ok, but nothing great. The only reason I'm giving this two stars is because of the atmosphere. It's nice, modern, and there are a ton of tvs, so any game you want is sure to be playing there. Still, I doubt there isn't a better place to go, if you aren't too hungover to stray far from your hotel.

Great bar/restaurant/sports bar in the Hyatt. We tried almost all the items on the menu, and likes them all. Staff was great, except one very young, very short, Napoleon complexed guy in a referee shirt. Had zero personality or people skills. Early on a Saturday morning, we went in for a Bloody Mary and sat at a long counter/table next to the bar. He came over and rambled on about how that table was intended for food patrons (while it was really in the bar area). We asked if he wanted us to leave, he rambled on about something - but never got to the point. Didn't let the elf bother us. But he needs to be replaced.

Nothing special about this place! Where is the historical value in this establishment as mentioned in the name? It's tucked into a fifty year old building of the Hyatt hotel.. My lunch included a pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, and coleslaw all of which was average at best. The bbq sauce mixed with the pork is overly sweet and takes away from the smokiness of the pork. On a side note, I'm not really sure they actually smoke their own meats. The baked beans were watery and overly sweetened with what I assumed to be their signature bbq sauce, and the slaw was bland. The staff and bartender were friendly and attentive unfortunately the food wasn't very good hence my two star rating.

  • Meghan M.

Brewhouse is just off the lobby of the Hyatt. This means two things...One: I have low expectations for the food/drink. Two: I expect relatively awful clientele. On expectation number one: I was pleasantly surprised. Great queso, great beer selection...Try the pretzel (with queso dip), skip the vegetable quesadilla. On expectation number two: Oh boy, did I underestimate the awfulness. Service was spotty and they refused to kick out some of the most obnoxious, completely wasted people I've ever encountered despite multiple tables complaining. Decent option for a casual (though not inexpensive) meal if you're staying at the hotel. Other than that, don't go out of your way.

In the Hyatt by the Arch, a bunch of us workers stayed here and did a dinner here. It was nice, very good service. A bit pricy but its a hotel bar/resturant so what do you expect? They had good beers on tap and the food was solid. A ton of TV's and we asked them to change some TVs to watch what we wanted and they obliged no problem If I came back to the Hyatt, I would probably eat and drink here again, especially if there were sports on.

Lobster tacos should be an appetizer. There were good but not the size for a decent meal. Great staff and welcoming environment.

I was in town for a conference and found myself in need of a place to go inside my hotel. I sat at the bar. They were out of pumpkin ale, which I had hoped for, but the bartender made a couple suggestions and gave me some samples. I just had a salad and it was large.

    (3)
  • Chris M.

This is a local beer sanctuary. I admire that trait, especially in a hotel bar. The food was actually pretty damn good too. The place was modern, yet casual and comfortable, with plenty of TV's to keep up with the sports world. If you feel so inclined, they even have two foosball tables. Definitely one of the better hotel restaurant/bar concepts I've experienced.

  • Autumn E.

Great place to grab a quick bite. I was on a conference and restaurant choices were a bit limited. I stopped in to enjoy a glass of wine and an app. Plenty of character and the appetizer was really good. Prices are decent. Plenty of beer choices.

Still trying to find the "historical" part of this place. Doesn't matter though, this is a solid stop if you are staying in the Hyatt. Right downstairs and legitimate menu items equate to a good stop for me especially when traveling. Interiors are nice and clean, the service was great and honestly they have some pretty decent beers on tap here. St. Louis isn't a big fan of IPA beer it seems but what they have is certainly fine. I sat at the bar and the service was just as good there as had I been at a table it appeared. Friendly bartender and quick food to the table.

Service was very good, place was ram rodded bears vs rams weekend. Got our beers and loaded Nachos very fast. Nachos are awesome highly recommended! Even for $14. I did notice draft domestics are more than bottles WTF? Must be a St Louie thing

Great food and great service. My co-workers and I love this place. The Red Kitchen in the lobby is overpriced and the food is awful. We were very happy to find this place after trying Red Kitchen and we eat here every time we stay. The atmosphere is great and employees are amazing. The beer selection is our favorite by far, we have tried many of the beers my personal favorite is the Crown Valley Big Bison Ale. The food is great.. I really like the salmon Caesar salad. I have also tried the smoked beef brisket sandwich and pulled pork barbecue sandwich both were great. My co-worked tried the pork steak and said he will get that again. He also just tried the house smoked turkey barbecue basket he said was very good . Another co-worker has tried the wings, barbecue chicken salad, taco salad and chopped salad and all were good chopped salad was my favorite. We always look forward to coming here when we stay. We have never had a problem since we have been coming here for the last few years. We used to stay at the crown plaza and they have nothing like Brewhouse which is why we always stay at the Hyatt.

For a bar inside a hotel, this spot was far better than anticipated. Normally, hotel bars and restaurants are swamped with tired staff, but here, they had serious hustle! Even during peak hours and a baseball game, the place was packed but the staff really hit a homerun for us- we never had to wait too long for refills or our check. We ate here several times and the waitress literally ran to get all her tables taken care of... the staff=best hustle I've had in a long time! One night, I sat at the bar and had a soup with friends who were drinking. The bartender offered a water but I said not to worry about it- he gave me a soda water with lime to be kind and as I left, transferred it to a to-go cup. Seriously...little things make a huge difference... everyone at this place was great. It was the best service I've had out in ages!

Better than we expected. I think the stupid name has kept me away. Stupid name = stupid service = stupid cooks, isn't that right? I couldn't detect any history here, and they aren't doing any brewing. It's a nice space, though. I took out-of-town guests for lunch yesterday. It looks like they do a pretty decent lunch crowd, but it's not the kind of place we'd go on a date, nor would I go there for sports. There are several TV's around, but I honestly had a hard time seeing who was playing (Wimbledon) from where I was sitting. At our table, we had two burgers, a fish "Po' Boy" and I had the portabella burger. All of the food was excellent, priced under $10 including a side. One exception: I didn't care much for the dressing on the chopped salad that came with my portabella burger. It had a spice similar to ginger that I just didn't like. They have a good draft beer list - just about every local brewpub is represented. $6/pint for these, which is probably about what the breweries themselves would pour. Service was fine. The 3 1/2 star average is about right.

Yuck!! Worst food on earth. Worst I have ever had. THE WORST!!!!!!! The thought of it makes me want to vomit. Sooo sooo horrible. Didn't even seem like food.

This is a cool modern sports lounge with more beer choices than most "pubs" w/ none brewed here, therefore advertising as "brewhouse historical sports bar"... I do not get. The chairs and barstools are NICE, plus a lounge style upholstered wall to sit against, all with solid butcher block tables and views of the 17 large HDTVs. (did I mention the extensive selection of beer? It covers the first page of the oversized menu- do not know what you want, ask the bartender for a sample of StL's finest microbrews) The back of the staff's shirts are good reading like "A woman drove me to drink, yet I did not thank her." The security was VERY large men in suits. So far, I ate a surprisingly large $6.50 nacho with fresh jalapenos, green onions and guacamole- chunks of avocado that I had to cut up (I paid $3 extra for steak). The pulled pork I had the other week was excellent (I mean that as shock for a high-rise sports bar). They do have a happy hour from 4-6 Mon-Fri, but it is celebrated all day Sunday! $1 off makes for reasonable better quality draughts and the nachos being $5 plus other specials (check pic).

Stopped here for dinner on my first night for a business trip. The server was friendly, even if she didn't like beer (smile) she was still ready with some recommendations! We ended up getting a delicious local brew with a really fun name to same . . . something like "sparklefuss." I don't know, but his Arizon-ian really enjoyed it! My coworker and I couldn't decide between the soup or the pulled pork sandwich so we both got soup and split the sandwich, it was a perfect match! The food came out quick and the Ale & Onion Soup was phenomenal! Very rich, not too salty, and the perfect amount of sweetness from the onions. YUM! YUM! YUM! I was full after the soup. I'm not sure if it was because I was full or because I loved the soup so much, but the sandwich wasn't that fantastic in my opinion. I would have been 100% happy with the soup and the beer! If I ever go back to St. Louis for work, I will for sure go back for that soup!

So I have to say that I am torn....3.5 tending to a 4 starts They do have a great atmosphere (kind of dark, pub-like), nice bartenders and really nice staff. For being in the hotel that we stayed at I was pleasantly surprised on how much I enjoyed it here. They do have GLUTEN FREE beer and a GF menu as well. I had multiple items from the menu and they were all delicious. The prices are a little high but really there is no other place that convenient so it is what it is I guess.

My wife and I were looking for a place that had some local beers and some decent food. I noticed this place advertised on a brochure my wife had picked up and it seemed to fit the bill. The decor is great. It's got the right amount of class, and just the right amount of sports memorabilia on the walls so that it doesn't feel hokey. Even though it was decently busy, we had great service. I ordered a few local beers that were great, and had a pulled pork sandwich that was delicious. I wish I had gotten our server's name. She was great.

You know, for a hotel sports bar this place is pretty good. The prices are fair and the portions are reasonable but the service was excellent. There are much better restaurants in the neighborhood but if you want a quick bite in the hotel this place is fine.

A nice change of pace place inside a hotel. Great sports bar with a decent menu. I had the Burger and it was fantastic. Had it with bacon and guacamole and it was cooked perfectly. The fries were delicious. Before I get to the amazing beer selection I have to say this: They have a major fruit fly issue. They were all over the bar and somewhat annoying. I imagine there was a beer leak/spill that caused them to swarm like they did. Now, the beer. Urban Chestnut Brewery owns many tap handles here, and that suits me fine! Had 3 of their beers and each were very impressive!! Had their Zwickel Lager, Schnickelfritz BAVARIAN WEISSBIER, and Winged Nut CHESTNUT ALE. I would almost move to St. Louis for these beers, almost. Each beer was not only amazing, they are brewed by an actual German! He knows his ales and lagers!! The bartender and bar manager know their beer, which is refreshing. They were able to tell me, in detail, about the beers and their background. They even let me sample before I purchased. Prices were a little steep ($6 a pint, not imperial pint), but being a hotel bar it is not uncommon. Plenty of TVs to watch sports, and the hostess was pleasant when she showed me to her seat.

I was in St. Louis during hockey playoff season. I went to a sports bar so I could watch the game with atmosphere. My two friends and I were seated near a family with small children. the t.v. was turned to the game, but there was minimal sound. I asked the waitress twice to turn up the sound, however it was only loud if you were sitting at the bar. They finally did turn it up a little during the second period. The food selection was good, and the food was o.k. Even though there were several servers always visible, the service was poor. Too bad this was the only sports bar in walking distance. I wouldn't recommend. If you have a designated driver and a car, go elsewhere.

For a bar attached to a hotel (the Hyatt), it was more than I expected. The set up was nice, there were tons of TV's everywhere, so there was really no bad seat in the house as far as being able to see. Drinks were on the higher end but that's to be expected of a hotel bar. The only real complaint was the service - our server was pretty slow with delivery and didn't know everything they had (I ordered something that he said they didn't carry, so I had to point out the bottle at the bar) - maybe he was new?? Decent ambiance & nice set up.

Stayed at the Hyatt for the weekend . Too cold to be outside so dined in . It is a nice hotel sports bar and grill . The food is a little pricer than it should be because it is part of the Hyatt . $11 for chicken wings , no thank you . However that being said the Ale and onion soup may have been the best soup I have ever eaten . If you come here it is a must have .

This is the first bar I had a drink at in STL. I arrived at the hotel and checked in and had an hour to kill before my friends showed up to meet me for the ladies weekend-so I figured I would get started on my drinking. It was still happy hour so I was able to partake of a light snack and and a nice glass of wine. It was a very quiet evening there and not a bad spot for a lady to just enjoy her drink alone.

Part 4 of the worst day of eating ever in the history of my life! After consuming disgusting cheese and bologna disgusted as a "charcutterie" plate and sticky sweet, nauseating wings, I was ready for some edible food. We figured the hotel restaurant in the hilton wouldn't be that bad right? WRONG AGAIN! My chicken nachos had cheese more yellow than stadium nachos, chicken that probably used to bark and way too much sour cream. GUUUHHHHHHHH Also the bartender was a jerk and wouldn't let us order from the happy hour menu even though it was 2 minutes before 6. The only slightly edible food here was the free chili dip appetizer we got for me checking in on foursquare.

Toasted Ravioli was delicious! We really enjoyed our entrees too (fish tacos and portobello mushroom sandwich). Service was very good and it was a great place to stop in after walking out in the heat all day.

Nice selection of local beers. That's the best news. The food was ok. Brisket was so hot it actually burned me (microwave the sauce or something?)! The beans were good, but a little too sweet, and I LIKE sweet. The cole slaw was utterly forgettable. I got the butter cake, and must say...disappointed. If you have ever eaten Mastro's butter cake, you will be disappointed as well. But I went there for beer, and was not disappointed. My server was very nice, but a little ditzy. I saw people waving her down when she was busy dancing, but she had such a nice personality no one seemed irritated. Still, you shouldn't have to wave someone down.

You'd think that a "Historical Sports Bar" would be something special. Unfortunately, it wasn't. It's just a modern, and very small sports bar. The location is great, connected to the Hyatt Hotel right by the Arch, and the outdoor seating is right on the street next to the Old Courthouse. Location is what this sports bar has going for it. I ate here twice, and the food is simply average, at an above average price. The beer is also a bit pricy, and service can be slow. Which doesn't make any sense considering how small this place really is. All in all, it's worth a try if you're looking for something to eat if you're touring around downtown St. Louis. If you're a local, I'm sure you can find someplace better to eat.

Austin was GREAT, I was at the hotel for a convention and was more than pleasantly surprised by the Brewhouse. The food was great and the service provided to us by the host,Austin, was impeccable. As the 6 of us sat down, I think we all thought that we would never make it back to our next session. The place was packed! Our host, turned server , jumped right in, took our complicated orders and didn't miss a beat! He was great! And we all made it back in time. Austin you made my day!!!

If there was a 3.5 star review, I would give it. We were staying next door on a surprise baby-free trip and wandered down to the Hyatt when the miserably small bar at our hotel was full (Cardinals playoff game going on). Pleasantly surprised with the decor, the tables immediately inside the door were a little odd. Seat yourself, had to wait nearly ten minutes before someone took our drink order, but he made it clear he wasn't our server. Place was packed, but a TON of staff wandering around. Ordered drinks and an appetizer and waited another ten minutes. The Amber Bock Artichoke Dip was excellent, although we definitely could have used more chips. As soon as games were over, they didn't switch to ESPN or something similar, but random television shows that NOBODY was interested in. Table next to us ordered entrees, but they did not look appetizing at all.

For a place to eat better than average bar food and good beer especially if you're staying at the hyatt its a good bet. I thought my beef brisket sandwich was good by KC standards and my bf also thought his burger was pretty good. The prices are pretty standard, comparable to other restaurants that serves similar food.

This place was the ultimate sports bar - lots of tvs and so many different games on. It was comfortable. The restaurant was conveniently located in our hotel and probably the only reason why we ate here. Our server seemed exhausted but she wasn't rude to us. The food tasted good but nothing was hot. The cheese on my chili didn't even melt. My boyfriend ordered the BBQ sampler (which was also luke warm) and I feel they were kinda stingy with the meat.

This place is one of my favorite spots in town. I cannot speak to its historical significance, but I will say that to be attached to the Hyatt, the prices are very reasonable. The food here is delicious, too. The burgers are delicious and the topping selection is fantastic. On my burger, I had a fried egg, jalapeno cheddar cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, queso, guacamole, and onions. It was probably the second-best burger I'd had in my life. The Big Ol' Nachos are delicious, too. The only downside is that this place gets PACKED, and it's hard to find seats when it does. Overall, however, it's great!

This place was ok. I kind of expected a little more from it, but I have no problems with it. It reminds me of BJ's, and I LOVE BJ's. They have their own hand crafted beer, which being in St. Louis on business, I had to try. Wasn't impressed. Maybe it was the type of beer I selected, but I like beer and I like to think I know my beer lol. My food, was pretty good. Kind of average. Atmosphere though is good and trendy. Updated sports bar scene. Interior is clean, but overall, nothing too special. I still like BJ's better lol. I'd be willing to give it a second chance though, it'd be worth it.

I don't know why this place bills itself as a historical sports bar, I mean, come on, it's located in and part of the Hyatt hotel. Sure, it has some Cardinals jerseys and pictures on the wall. But historical, please. Anyway, got in on Sunday and stopped in for a few pints. The bartender was attentive and the beer was cold. And I got a buyback. Woo Hoo !!!! On Monday night my other half wasn't feeling well and wanted a burger in bed. Went down to the bar to get it. Again the bartender (a different one) was attentive, took my order to go and I had a pint while I waited. The burger came out promptly. Brought it up to the room and since my other half was ill, she only ate half. I had the other half. Good burger. So on Tuesday night, after the Mets/Cardinals game, we decided to have some wings and a pint before calling it a night. Sat at a table. Mistake. The waitress took about 15 minutes to come over and take our order. We should have left then. It took another 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive, We should have left then. And it took another 15 minutes for our wings to arrive at the table. Well, we had to stay and eat the wings. Good wings. They lost a star for the waitress service on Tuesday night.

Gave it a star because the bar it self is very nice and the food was ok, but the service was horrible to put it in a nice way but I have other choice words about it. The waitress forgot about our beer had to ask for it again. The food runner brought out our food. The waitress didn't even come and ask us if we needed anything or if everything was ok. Not until we completed our meals and cleaned up and pushed out plates out of the way did our waitress then come over. And by that time we were very annoyed. If it wasn't for the atmosphere it self I probably wouldn't of even given it a star.

This is a nice little beer oasis downtown. A decent selection of bottled beer and tap beer. Enjoyed the service and the decor and the clever t-shirts worn by the staff. Only food we had was nachos, not those nasty nachos you get at chain restaurants (black olives, tomato bits, etc dumped over chips with sticky cheese = a pile of garbage). These nachos were plain chips with a crock of tasty dipping queso. Plus a view out the windows where you can watch the limosines pull up to the door of the Hyatt.

  • David O.

The service was good, but the food was at a lower standard than expected. Frozen and simply "prepared" food instead of fresh... Just not my thing. Maybe this is common for the area, I was expecting better and was disappointed.

Can't give this place any stars. My fiancé and I came here to grab lunch and once we were seated we sat there for 10 minutes with no contact from anyone ( there was about 4 tables total ) needless to see if you have any time limit I would look for other options. Saw the servers glance our way at least two times with no contact.

Really great service from my waitress Kelly. Ordered the Nachos with pulled pork on top. Great flavor. Just wish it was actually hot. Barely warm on the meat and the cheese was room temp. Would have give 5 stars if it was actually hot.

Chilled tequila shots with lime--yum. Clueless bartender who we have to gesticulate wildly at to get his attention to order more chilled tequila shots--boo. C'mon, buddy. You made it difficult to run up a tab since you were so busy chatting with the waitress, the other dudes at the bar, etc., but despite your inattention, we ran up a healthy tab anyway. I know it was a slow night, but how 'bout a little effort with customer service?

The food was great! However, the bartender wrote in a tip on my credit card even after I left a cash tip. So, if you go, don't use your credit card!!!

Traveling solo isn't for everyone, but I find great joy in moving on your own clock, admiring the details usually circumvented by chat tennis, and drowning in a good game hanging above your head. Flew out to St. Louis for business last week and after a long 2 flights, found my way into the Brewhouse. Home. A 'U' shaped wooden bar beckoned as I comfortably found the corner slot. A cold Stella eased the drowning of crying babies and marriage issues which littered the plane. Multiple screens hung above, like an aerial buffet of baseball games. Luckily, the Giants were on and everyone else had succumbed to the fact that their Cards were done. The menu is straight up Mid Western. Brisket, burgers, pulled pork and ribs. When in St. Louis attack the ribs. Ordered the full rack with a side of fries and slaw. Served on a large platter, you can recall what life must've been like for our neanderthal brothers. Smoky, with an even layer of bbq sauce, the pork was as tender as the steam rising above it. The boneyard grew quickly, and there wasn't a wet wipe that was going to stop me. Up front service, kept tabs on me well, and the brew came on a consistent basis. Not sure I'll be in St. Louis again, ( I saw the entire 5 blocks of it. Solid ), but if I do venture back, I'm sure I'll build up another graveyard.

I have always wanted to try out this historic St. Louis sports bar. The food, especially the ribs were awesome and I would highly recommend. The service was slow for reasons I can't explain. i don't know how hard it is to pop the tab off a bottle of beer. I'll give them a second chance.

Plenty of TVs and several big-screens. Disappointing wings but a solid burger with your choice of toppings, including fried egg. A beer list that can stand up to most in Saint Louis while also carrying a full range of macrolagers for those who don't get it. Other than being a little too classy for my taste this is a very respectable sports bar. 3 1/2 stars.

Historic sports bar is a hilarious line to use, but whatevz. The barkeep was useful in suggesting beers, I got a Schalafly pale ale, seasonal, and a O'Fallon "5-day" (I don't remember this one, I'm goin' off the receipt here). I also ordered the pulled pork, and this definitely lived up to the standard I would have for BBQ from St. Louis. A bit on the pricey side, but I had a good time. A good time, alright.e

Let's just get three things out of the way: 1) Exposed brick doesn't make you historical. 2) Having beer on tap doesn't make you a brewhouse. 3) This is pretty much a 2 1/2 star review. Maybe I'll get some food at some point, but then again, maybe not That out of the way, the beautiful wife and I stopped in here for a beer. We sat at the bar and were promptly greeted by a friendly gent who asked what we'd like. I asked him what was on tap and he started to recite the beers and what style they were. After about four of these, I saw they had Guinness and went with that. They actually pour a decent pint here, though it's an American pint, so it always feels small. So, all was going fine until a patron and the bartender got into a discussion about what games should be on the televisions. The bartender and the patron agreed it should be Cardinals all the time, amazed that tourists might want to have at least one screen devoted to their home team. The final "ugh" moment was when the bartender sort of plopped himself up on the rail in front of us(at least it wasn't the bar itself). I don't know. It rubbed me the wrong way. When faced with going a couple blocks north to Tigin's or a couple blocks south to Brewhouse, I'm going to head north every time.

I went here for dinner with friends because we were staying at a nearby hotel. This bar/restaurant is also attached to a hotel. The prices reflect this. However, the food was very good there. Two of us had the pulled pork sandwich. It was very good. One of us had the beef brisket sandwich, which was also very good. I do not remember what the other two people in the group had. But, everyone in the group enjoyed their food. They also have a decent beverage selection. Service was decent. I'd be happy to go here again if I were staying in the area.

SAINT LOUIS BBQ REVIEW: I went here because it was within walking distance of my office downtown. My buddy & I are doing monthly reviews of Saint Louis BBQ joints. Although the Brewhouse is not a BBQ restaurant, per se, they had pulled pork & ribs on the menu, so we thought we'd give them a try. I ordered the ribs (half rack) and was pleasantly surprised when the kitchen "mistakenly" sent out a full rack. Zha! The meat was very tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. The only choice for sauce was the house sauce that comes on the ribs (plus a cup on the side) but I certainly found out why after the first taste: with a sauce that good, why bother with any other? All in all, this is a very good place because they have lots and lots of great beers available, fantastic BBQ and plenty of other items on their menu!

Located inside the Hyatt, I came here twice to eat during my stay. The first time I ordered the piled high corned beef reuben. Oh what a letdown that was! You can't say "piled high" and only have a few slices of meat! It was good, but I felt misled. The second time I came, I decided to order the pulled bbq pork. Now St Louis style bbq is known for their sauces and this one did not disappoint me at all! The sauce was probably a little on the sweet side for some people, but it was just right for me. That, mixed with a generous pile of perfectly, falling off the bone, tender as tender gets pork, was a slice of heaven on a soft roll. Too bad my first meal here was meh. ***At night, this place is prime hotel cougar hunting grounds***

I was staying at the Hyatt for business & didn't really feel like going too far. I originally wanted to at Red, but was disappointed that they were closed, so ended up here. The atmosphere of the restaurant is sports bar meets trendy urban lounge. I had the fancy fries which were delicious. They came out with my meal which was the BBQ chicken salad, it sounded amazing but was very disappointing. Salad was really spicy, uncomfortably so for me & was drenched in dressing & BBQ sauce. Couldn't really eat too much of it. The dessert was the BEST part. I had the Apple Cobbler & would highly recommend that!!

This could be just a run of the mill sports bar attached to a hotel. And what it is it does well - standard plates of American fare, along with some BBQ stuff thrown in. However there is a great beer selection, including some great local brews.

Though my husband and I only ordered appetizers, they were very good and the beer selection is great. No complaints - not sure why all the others were so down on it. It was a lively atmosphere with nice decor. I was fairly surprised at how much I enjoyed myself given it is a hotel restaurant.

There isn't anything historical about it. Its a pretty nice bar with a little above average prices and a decent menu. It's in a hotel so take it for what it's worth.

We spent all last Sunday here and they were so nice to put on the Pats game for us and give us our own little area to enjoy the game. The nachos rocked, the wings were even better, and they had a great selection of micro brews. (Even some from Colorado :-) The manager was wonderful and we really enjoyed the staff. A few of our servers were slow and one even forgot our order when we came back the following night for a night cap, but the friendliness helped balance it out. Great place to go if you're staying near by!
